Feedback report left by Son in law of a patient. I consider the standards of care and professionalism shown to my father in law during his stay at Cannock hospital to be excellent. From his arrival on 24th October for a knee transplant through to his discharge on 29th Oct, I observed all staff being personable, attentive and professional. At 77 years old, having major surgery is a very daunting prospect, but his visit came only a week after his wife of 54 years had unexpected passed away. So he was in an even more fragile emotional state than normal. Over the next six days I continued to observe these standards of care. My father in law had only positive comments about the staff on the ward and standard of care they provided. Probably by coincidence of working rota but one particular Staff nurse was on duty a lot of the time, and her standard of professionalism and care never dropped from that first day. Post op, with encouragement from the physio my father in law made steady daily progress toward his discharge. There were numerous other members of the care support team who engaged with my father. The standard of care provided at Cannock Hospital was everything that a person could expect. I have experienced private care that was no better and it was significantly better compared to the standards of care that my mother in law received during her stay at Good Hope hospital before she passed away.
