I have atrial fibrillation, emphysema, chronic bronchitis and angina. Last month I went to A&E at QMC with chest pain. I told reception that I had chest pain and then waited to be seen – I know they are busy so I didn’t mind too much. After a bit my chest pain went away and my AF settled down.
After about 2 hours a doctor came to see me. He immediately started berating me for going to A&E 6 times this year - even though this ended up with me being admitted on two differnt occasions.
He didn’t ask any questions just seemed to start shouting at me as though I was a naughty boy. He told me that I was on the wrong tablets and didn’t need them – even though it was my consultant and my GP who put me on them in the first place. I felt this doctor just treated me as if I was wasting his time. After he had finished shouting at me the nurse came and discharged me.
Since going home I’ve stopped all my medication just like he told me to even though I’m not sure this is the right thing to do.
