"Minor injuries unit"

About: NHS Direct NHS Trust Wycombe Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

I discover my step son has burned his fingers messing with a candle.

I knew Wycombe has a minor injuries unit, but my partner wanted reassurance - so a quick phone call to NHS Direct. Unfortunately, the operator directs me to Wexham Park A&E, denying the existence of a minor injuries unit at Wycombe.

I end up having to call Wycombe directly for them to confirm they're open after 10pm and appropriate for such an injury.

Even more baffling is the discovery that the NHS Direct web page doesn't even have a "Find your nearest" click for minor injuries!

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for providing your feedback and I am sorry that your experience was less than satisfactory.

We would like the opportunity to look into this further and if this is something you are happy for us to do could you please provide the following details to us via our contact us facility at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk. The details we need are your step sons name and date of birth, the address given during the call and telephone number you rang from. Once we have this information I can ensure an investigation is started to establish what went wrong with the call.

I await your instruction.

Yours sincerely,
