My step-son was admitted to Good Hope following a possible fitting episode. After being held on the children's A & E ward from 9am until 4pm, constantly being made less of a priority than other patients being admitted with little information about what or why we were waiting, we were taken to a ward. At 10pm we were told we could leave so long as we returned the following day 'when called' for tests. At 11pm my partner rang Good Hope as we had not received a call at which point he was told we should have just arrived first thing. Following further testing at City Hospital, a follow up appointment was arranged for Monday 2nd November, however upon arrival it was said the results from City Hospital had not arrived, some month after testing. Following complaints to City Hospital it emerges the results had been sent over a month before. Total incompetence on behalf of Good Hope Hospital from start to finish- and we still have no idea as to the results of my step sons fitting episode. Outrageous for a National Health System my partner and I have paid into our adult lives and very rarely called upon!
