I was admitted for urgent surgery following an earlier urgent admission on 11 November 2013. I can only continue to describe this surgeon as excellent. He was supported by an extremely competent clinical fellow and consultant anaesthetist who inspired confidence in me - as a Theatre Matron I tend to be a little on the cautious side, but all who looked after me were excellent. The sister in recovery was quite delightful and the ward staff were simply brilliant. The quality of the food was excellent and the timeliness of pain control was excellent - nothing was too much trouble and this demonstrates the leadership on this Ward. In the days when there is a lot of criticism, this episode exemplifies all that is good about the NHS - as a NHS professional myself - I know it's a tough job - that's not to make excuses when we fall below the mark, but the majority of staff are hard-working and dedicated - I could not have received better care from start to finish - well done again Northern General! A true fan.
