What I liked
I liked the fast turn around and day surgery is quick.
What could be improved
I was in day surgery (arthroscopy)
I scrubbed my knee with detol before I came in as a precaution to avoid infection.
It was busy, I was told to sit down beside my the bed. I refused as the chair had dried vomit on it. Nurse moved it away, and gave me another.
I saw a lady leave, nurse put the hospital gown the lady had worn onto my bed. She said put this on and lie down.
I refused pointing out that it had just been used by someone else.
Annoyed she went off in search of another returning quickly with one which clearly was not freshly laundered either.
However I used it because I was worried about being seen as a trouble maker.
I was unsupervised as I woke and injured my thigh muscles trying to move to soon.
The chair with dried vomit on was back beside the bed still unclean.
I did not see my consultant after the op and found the aftercare to be lacking.
I must point out this was a while ago but did not know you had this facility to comment on your experience at Gloucester.
The gowns should be dispensed in disposable sealed bags to avoid any confusion or contamination.
Spills should be dealt with as they occur by an orderly who is a phone call away.
