"not enough staff in older peoples DIST teams"

Anything else?

With the closure of numerous beds around Norfolk and Suffolk by the Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust, has left under resourced Intensive Support Teams unable to cope with the demand placed upon them. Generally you only have one band six member of staff to do assessments on each shift, and it is not enough when new referrals have to be responded to within four hours. The drive to save money is putting people's lives at risk, and the Trust knows about it but is involved in a cat and mouse game with the Commissioners to see how long it will take them to back down and provide more resources. Meanwhile the intolerable pressure on staff keeps rising, meaning more staff going off sick with stress......Something must be done.

We would like to apologise for not having responded to these comments at the time, and can assure that we now have a more robust responding system in place.

Recent posts have been responded to and we are now going back through previously un-responded comments to provide this update.

This comment was posted during a difficult period requiring cost savings and the reorganisation of services. This has settled down considerably since, with evidence that our the DIST teams are very effective in supporting people at home with more intensive needs.
