"A&E visit followed by consult in SAU"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

Anything else?

My husband arrived in the a&e at 11am with bleeding from a suspected hematoma. After an hour and 15 minutes he was seen to by a streaming nurse. At 1pm we were shown on to the ED ward where he was examined by a doctor who thought this was a hematoma and would refer him on to the SAU. At 2pm we were shown to this ward and not seen until 4.15pm by a junior consultant who again, examined my husband and asked him the same questions. She informed us she would need to speak to her senior. By 6pm, still no sign and we were told by the staff nurse we would be seen in 20minutes max. 6.30pm and still nothing. We ended up leaving the hospital as we were not kept informed at any point drying the day of what was happening or given any indication of what could happen or any timings. Whilst I appreciate that this was a Sunday and it would appear the hospital were very busy and operating on skeleton staff, I cannot understand why simple communication was not adhered to and this whole experience has left my husband and I very disappointed with the NHS service at Frimley hospital!
