"going home"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

going home

What could be improved

Confidentiality. Overhearing staff talking about your illness in front of a full ward of patients. Communication between staff and specialists none existent. Nursing staff unhelpful when dealing with queries in person and over the telephone. The whole experience, from an outsider looking in, was horrendous. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I dare say these comments will be ignored and not acted on, however I felt I must make myself heard. Patient choice, thank god, will enable us to choose anywhere except Sunderland again. Three elderly women, fell, and was not acted on immediately. One was unconscious on the floor and no-one knew how long she had been there. It is like something out of the dark ages. My experience lasted only five days (thank god) while observing a loved one in hospital. I only hope that the relatives of these elderly patients make full complaints.
