I was booked in for a lumbar puncture and was petrified. I didn't sleep for days worrying about it. I didn't know what to expect and even contemplated writing "Goodbye" letters to my loved ones "just incase". On the day of the test I was climbing the walls in the house and thought I would go to the hospital an hour and a half early so I could sit in different surroundings trying to relax. Upon arrival at the hospital I was told I was the next patient so went straight into the ward. The nurse was lovely and explained everything to me. I'd had letters from the neurologist which I didn't quite understand which she went through in no time at all leaving me instantly calmer. The MS nurse came into the room who I'd met before and we discussed the procedure. I had been told that it would hurt by a few people but I barely felt even the needle going in. The faith and trust I have in the MS nurse and the nurses from Medical Day Care Unit I can't describe but it has made me realise that if I have got MS I am in the best possible hands. I had a laugh with all 3 nurses who took great care of me that day and I am very very grateful. Should I need them I know they are there.
