I am extremely impressed with and grateful for the care that I received throughout all aspects of my pregnancy. The Early Pregnancy Unit, which I utilised due to early bleeding in my pregnancy, responded to my concerns and upset with care and compassion. I was given an extra scan on two occasions and was monitored closely and in a timely way (I was given an appointment within 3 hours of phoning). I ended up having an emergency C section due to no fetal heart rate and whilst this was an extremely frightening and traumatic experience, the actions of staff on Triage and Delivery Suite ensured my daughter was delivered safely despite the cord being wrapped around her neck three times. A second theatre was opened up for me and the theatre staff were friendly and kind when I was distressed. My recovery has been quick due to the expertise of the team as I my scar is neat and they managed to avoid giving me a general anaesthetic despite the severity of the situation. The care on Maternity Ward was excellent- Midwives helped me care for my daughter despite being bed bound and particular thanks to the Ward Manager as she cared for my crying baby at 2am so I could get a couple of hours sleep! The 4 bed ward was private and clean and staff responded very quickly when I pressed the call button. I was grateful to the consultant who came to see me to debrief me as to what had happened during me labour which had led to the emergency C section, which I consider to be extremely good practise and helped me get over the shock of what had happened. I would not hesitate to recommend this hospital's maternity unit and will be forever grateful for their care.
