Anything else?
i was admitted on mon 4th november 2013 afew days ago for a laparoscopic sterilisation...i went i the hospital for 11.30 which was my time on letter...i was told not to eat or drink anything after 6.00a.m...however i didn.t have my operation till 4.30pm in the afternoon..i know it's normal to not eat or drink before an operation but i was told before hand 6 hours before operation is long enough to go without drink/food etc...i think this is where my problems began...after coming out of the theatre i went back to recovery ward then woke up in ward where i had extremely dry mouth and couldn't even swallow toast i was that dry...i had loads to drink at this point but was very dehydrated...even the nurses said i should have had a drip because i looked so dry etc on my lips...i had to stay in treatment centre till i could pass water but unfortunately i still couldn't even after drinking lots... i have to mention at this point that the nurses were very good on the ward as i was the only patient left...everyone else had gone home and they were very patient...but said they couldn't let me go till i had passed water....by 8.oopm i still hadn;t so they said i could go but had to return to hospital by 12.midnight if i still couldn't pass any water...i returned home but was upset at having to stay up till i could pass any water...i did finally but at 11.00pm...i went to bed finally but only after passing a small amout and was taking frequent trips to toilet all night cos i had alot of discomfort...i think alot of this could of been avoided if the surgeon etc had put a drip in me in the first place...i still feel extremely tired now even though its only 5 days ago i think my recovery would of been abit quicker....i'd like to thank the nurses on the ward that day for reassuring me etc when i was in discomfort and giving me pain relief....i still feel i need to keep drinking alot now...
