"The doctors here all seemed very ..."

About: Freeman Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The doctors here all seemed very capable and knowledgeable. I felt that I was in good hands. The staff nurses were mostly great but there were one or two notable exceptions to this. One other thing about the staff nurses here was that the night shifts were as helpful as the day staff. Not the norm in my experience at least. A definite positive.

What could be improved

The food (surprise, surprise). My God, how this can be passed off as food is anyone's guess. But the biggest fear for me was the lack of good hygiene. Stains on the walls. The floor to my section of the ward was not even cleaned once in the 3 days that I stayed there. It may have had a sweep, but that's not really cleaning. But worse than all of this was the fact that the curtain around my bed was splattered with blood. Not only that, something which resembled a lump organic matter - skin? Whatever it was, it was foul. No-one seemed to be in a hurry to change it though. So much for infection control.
