"my mums visit to accident and emergency"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Accident and emergency Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My mum fell and broke her wrist and so I took her straight to a and e at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury. The Receptionist saw her wrist was bad and that mum was in a lot of pain and so took her straight to a nurse in minor injuries, then she talked to me and took all mum's details.

Straight after this, mum was in x ray then back to the nurse. They cleaned her up nicely too as she was covered in mud from her fall, then we saw another nurse who explained everything and took bloods, put mum on a drip, changed her sheets and gave her blankets.

Then we went CDU bed with more doctors etc and mum was given so much reassurance and care. Anyway to cut a long story short, her wrist was reset and plastered and then we were left for mum to rest and for the morphine to wear off. She was given a sandwich and yoghurt and we had access to free hot drinks.

I cannot say enough how thorough, quick, caring and professional everyone was - thank you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and for your kind words. We will make sure this is passed on to the department.

We hope your mother is recovering well.

Kind regards
