Anything else?
I arrived at the hospital at 6,30 on Tuesday 5 November to attend castle ward in preparation for my operation I introduced myself to the nursing staff and was greeted by a lovely friendly relaxed group off nurses one off which guided me to a bed on the ward I was made comfortable and was asked a few questions on my general health and any medication I may be taking . I was then provided with a surgical gown and stockings and was asked to put them on .I was informed a surgeon and anesthesiologist would be coming to ask me a few questions and sign a form off consent for the operation. Which in due course they did I found them also to have a relaxed professional manner all off which made me feel more comfortable .i then settled back and read some pages off my book ( Into thin air. by Jon krakauer ) which helped take my mind off the operation this being my first. At 10.00 a.m I was taken thro on my bed to the surgical ward by a friendly member of the surgical ward team I was asked a few more health related questions on arrival . Then the surgeon came by to see me introduced himself to me in a friendly and very professional manner a few minutes went by and a chatty friendly anesthetize came to collect me for my operation I was taken to a small room just off the operating theatre where I was given a small injection in my left hand a small mask was placed over my nose and mouth and ?? What seemed like few minutes went by ? And I was on the recovery ward and gently being aroused from the anaesthetic within 5 to 10 min I started coming round from the operation I felt comfortable and was back on a ward bed .shortly after a nurse came to collect me and I was taken to Coombes ward on arrival I met the ward sister very professional and friendly who remembered me from a previous visit. I then phoned my wife to let her know I was fine had a sleep had a ham salad .i was feeling quite well just small discomfort from operation and asked if I could go home as I was feeling good 15 min later came back with some pain killers some good advice and said that would be fine . My lovely wife came to see me then my daughter and son In law came to collect us and we went home 8.00 p.m. 100 out off a 100 I was taken very good care off by friendly professional staff . And did not feel like number
