About: North Tyneside General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I am writing to let you know what excellent care I received recently on ward 20 (orthopaedics) at North Tyneside General Hospital following hip replacement surgery.

I was on the ward for a week in total and in that time was most impressed with the personal care offered by my surgeon, who visited daily (apart from Sunday) and by the attentive and sensitive nursing and medical care of the ward staff. Although always busy, the nursing staff found the time to reassure when necessary, to offer little extra kindnesses when appropriate and to relate empathy to their patients.

Keep up the good work.

Dear Patient Podmore

I would like to take the opportunity of thanking you for taking the time to send in your comments regarding ward 20 North Tyneside General Hospital. It is very reassuring to learn that patients are receiving quality care by the surgeon and all the medical, nursing and support teams. I will ensure that I share your message to them as this kind of reassurance is very motivating for the staff particularly when there is so much negative publicity from the media regarding the NHS. I hope you are on the road to a full recovery

Ann Carlisle

General Manager for Elective Care
