"My partner had another seizure "

About: Royal Gwent Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as other),

My partner had another seizure two weeks ago in which she hurt her thumb and shoulder. She went to A & E where they x-rated her shoulder and thumb, they said that she had pulled a muscle in her shoulder and fracture the bone between her thumb and index finger.

When she went back to A & E for her follow up appointment the doctor at A & E said that my partner had epilepsy but when her mother told the doctor she under investigation for epilepsy, he said said no you have epilepsy.

When my partner rang about her results of the EEG she was told she would have to wait until January, when she would have an appointment to see doctor joesph.

So my partner life is still on hold, she can't return to work or be left alone with our two boys, so she has to rely on her family for support in her everyday life.

Dear 'smithy1985',

I am sorry for the delay your partner is experiencing with waiting for an EEG. The Health Board acknowledges that waiting times are longer than they should be. The neurophysiology service is run on a regional basis, in conjunction with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and work is ongoing to implement solutions with the specific aim of reducing waiting times. Whilst this work is ongoing, however, we appreciate that this does not alter your partner's experience.

Due to consent and patient confidentiality issues, we cannot comment specifically on your partner's case. However, should your partner want a service manager to contact her directly to discuss her concerns, please email your concern directly to the Putting Things Right Team at Puttingthingsright.ABHB@wales.nhs.uk

Please include the following information in your email:

your full name

address

telephone number

Regards,

Sharon Harford

My partner has had her EEG but we got to wait until January for the results, which is a joke.

My partner can't get on with her normal life at the moment.
