"Day surgery"

I went to the day care unit for a minor operation this morning. Was not entirely happy at going to lewisham but my local hospital Queen Elizabeth did not have capacity. The only snag today was that instead of 2 surgeons there was only 1, however I would not have been aware if I had not been told. I was still seen at the estimated time, did wait longer than the nurses usually expect in recovery, but again for the patient this did not cause a problem. All of the staff nurses, doctors, consultants, surgeons, anesthetists, porters and domestic staff were great, from first impressions to the last. I always knew what the routine of the operation and post op care was going to be, I was not rushed during any if the consultation. As soon as I was out of recovery came the much wanted cup if tea and sandwich. My escort was then telephoned to collect me, was given my medication and letter for my GP without any delay, all the things you expect to wait for happened immediately. All staff were cheerful, the unit was segregated into males and females which was great and the hint was immaculately clean. I am very grateful to all of the staff for really caring for me on the day, did share my thoughts with a few if the nurses but thought at the very least I should let as many people as possible know, complaints take so long to deal with and are so common even for the most minor if things, whereas compliments are instantaneous , The majority of NHS staff are all working really hard to provide us with a good service , let's all share this some more and keep the morale up fiords them so that they continue to honour us.My treatment was at the a Riverside Unit.
