Anything else?
I know how hard you work in the NHS but feel my treatment on this particular day was not of the norm and a world apart from my previous visits and after much thought felt I had to put forward my experience to ensure the staff are aware of how they came across. I had previously spoke to the receptionist in the Gynaecology Dept with regards to my appointment. She was extremly rude and this did not change on my arrival at the dept. I was early for my appt but then was not booked in so the consultant did not think I had arrived. I was taken through to the treatment room in a robotic manner with no thought of how I felt and eye contact was minimal. During my consultation I found it difficult to understand the consultant and was then told I required a colposcopy that was performed again robotically with no thought for my anticipation nor was I asked if I had any questions prior to this. During the painful procedure I did not feel that I was being addressed as a person and this led right through to "wash up" where I was told I may need a procedure and dismissed. I had no idea what this procedure was until the nurse gave me a leaflet as I was leaving, again with no eye contact or any empathy. I left feeling upset and am hesitant in having to come back to the unit, which is a stressful enough time without being concerned of how I will be treated by the staff.
