"21/2 weeks with dad on unit"

About: West Heath Hospital

Anything else?

The medical staff provided proper treatments, explanations & showed adequate expertise & attention to patient. The nursing care was dependent on who was on. Some nurses are more conscientious than others, some are better skilled & some have a better bedside manner. I found this at QE & any other hospital. The auxiliary staff seemed quite respectful in general but could probably use a little more discretion & gentleness when bathing, toileting and stripping off the elderly. Again, this depended on the person performing the task. Finally, like most places, the unit is understaffed. Best to keep an eye on matters & speak up. Participate in care. The nurse cannot do it all & need your eyes, ears & awareness. However, I am not keen on the visiting hours but given the layout of the ward i can understand the need for down time.

Thank you for your feedback which will be shared with the matron and staff at West Heath Hospital. If you are happy to, please contact Alison Last, Associate Director of Patient Experience on 0121 466 7128 or email alison.last@bhamcommunity.nhs.uk so that we can learn which ward at West Heath Hospital your experience relates to. We would expect all staff to provide compassionate care and would want to address your feedback directly with the relevant staff team so they can learn and make any necessary improvements.
