From the moment I arrived in the lift to go up to labour ward, I was met by the kindest student midwife who didn't leave my side from that moment until my son was born. I was frightened with a million questions that were all answered by her explaining every test and process in detail which, importantly, kept me calm and reassured all day. Once he was delivered by the wonderful surgeon and team, the midwife team took over our every move. Their care and support was outstanding helping us every step of the way. Feeding was a challenge to start with and several midwives and experts spent time with us until we clicked. The management team of the maternity unit should feel proud to have such a cohesive smooth running ward - a credit to the hospital and a terrific example of how good the NHS can be.
"Experience of the Tangmere ward and fabulous..."
