"Appalling Care and Communication"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

Anything else?

I have been left infertile due to the hospital's lack of communication, their ability to read their own notes and recommendations, and competency of their consultants. I was sent home from hospital with a perforated bowel, despite a consultant reviewing me, and had 3 separate scans, which each showed swelling and inflammation of my fallopian tubes, yet nobody contacted me, or referred me for treatment in respect of the swelling. This resulted in surgery for removal of my fallopian tubes earlier this year. If I had another hospital within feasible travelling distance, I would most certain go elsewhere, but unfortunately I'm lumbered with dangerous care, and staff who really do appear to not care.

We are very sorry that you have been left with such a poor perception of our care; this is not how we would want any patient to feel. We would encourage you to contact the Patient Relations Department who will be able to offer you the opportunity to meet with the appropriate clinicians to discuss your concerns. Patient Relations can be contacted by phone 0118 322 8338 or by email talktous@royalberkshire.nhs
