"Disgustingly dirty, but great staff"

About: Hereford County Hospital

Anything else?

I had a short stay with my toddler for 4 days, we were strewn straight away in A&E, no waiting at all. All staff were very helpful, at one point we had 4 doctors/nurses assessing! Although it took 4 different doctors to finally declare my son did have fluid on his chest (every other doctor categorically told us he didn't). He was admired to the ward, the wonderful staff! However, I was offered 2 meals out of my 4 day stay - I am a nursing mother, and made it clear to several nurses. However I was only asked by one person taking the menu list out of all of them, I even wrote it on the menu! I didn't want to leave my son to get food, and should have been provided it. On another note, this hospital it dirtier than a train station waiting room. My house is 5x's cleaner, it really is a disgrace!! I may have higher cleaning standards than most, but surely a hospital should be even cleaner! I have actually taken several pictures of the ward I stayed on... Complete with brown splashes up the wall (take your pic of what you think it is..), sick on the parents chair I slept on, there was blood on the toilet floor, which remained there for the 4 days we stayed! I saw a cleaner twice in the full 4 days there. She swept the floor and changed a few bins..........! I had to wipe down the cot with anti bac wipes before he went in it as it was wry dusty, had a stale bread crust on the side by the bars and was generally grubby.. Not what you expect for a hospital with very vulnerable patients. My son was sick on the floor, and a nurse came to clean it up, wearing an apron and gloves.. However she wiped it up, with paper towels, and that was it! He had gotten sick on the chair, which she used a paper to wipe off . When she left, I took anti bac wipes from the wall packets and cleaned all the area he was sick, Including the chair. Have they never ver heard of infection control? What about the next vulnerable child that crawls on that floor or sits on that chair?! I've also got pictures of my view from the chair, liquid of some sorts, all down the side of the chemical bin next to our bed, again, marks and dirt under the basin sink, just RANK. No wonder people are catching things from hospital. I got my son home as soon as it was she to do so! I am posting the pictures publicly of course
