"Peer support worker training"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health (inpatient)

When I started the Peer Support Training I was nervous at first but as the day went on I became more relaxed with the people on the course. Everyone was really easy to get along with including Nicki and Matt. It was good to learn and have fun at the same time which is a concept that I wasn’t really use to until starting the PSW training. I enjoyed the group work as it was a good way to get to know the different people on the course and a bit about their background. The best day of the course for me was when we did our presentations as I got to share more about myself with the group and I got to know a bit more about them which in turn made me feel closer to them as we all had a lot in common. I would like to thank Neville Wood, Nicki Bennett, Matt and Emma for this amazing opportunity and for sharing it with us.

Thank you so much for your kind and positive feedback about the Peer Support Worker training. Having just finished our latest training cohort we have now trained 85 people in Peer Worker skills. The training is accredited through the Open University, 20 credits at level 4 and is an informative, fun experiential learning programme which trains peers to use their unique peer skills. Congratulations to every who successfully completed the course and we are currently recruiting for the next training which starts on the 14th January 2014.
