"Room for improvement"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

Cleaning staff were moving from bed space to bed space wiping patients trays with cleaning cloths they were handling patietnts drinking glasses by the rim of the glass to wipe underneath them, They were also placing rubbish in the bins using there hands and not the pedal. Surely this practice risks the spread of infection. Otherwise I was quite comfortable during my stay. This all took place in HDU & Phoenix ward

I share your concerns and apologise. I will address this matter with our housekeeping manager. We do need to encourage patients to feedback on how we are doing in real time so we can put things right promptly and improve their experience. Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. Linda Dempster Head of Infection Control
