"Refused referral"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

After an x-ray I was referred for surgery. This was refused by Traqs. I was offered physio. I waited 6 weeks for an appointment, went to see the physiotherapist who examined me, then referred me for surgery. In my opinion I have just had an extra 6 weeks of pain thanks to Traqs

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent experience. I am sorry that your referral appears to have been delayed by the pathways agreed for referrals through TRAQS.

The clinicians within Telford and Wrekin have agreed a process for all orthopaedic referrals and the first part of that pathway is a referral to physiotherapists. If your referral letter did not state that you had already received physiotherapy one of our clinicians within TRAQS would have had a discussion with the referring GP to ensure they felt it appropriate to redirect your referral.

TRAQS relies upon the referring GP to provide clear details of the patients condition to allow them to triage the referral effectively. TRAQS clinicians are working closely with local GPs to improve the quality of referral letters where necessary to ensure patients are seen in the right place first time.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments with the TRAQS team.
