What I liked

i have been an inpatient here well over 25 times over the past 7 years. on an over all view i found the staff to be extremley pleasent and caring. i found that the staffing situation is appauling in some cases there was 1 trained nurse and 1 carer on a ward of around 35 patients during the night i didnt realise that people r only ment to get sick 9/5 monday to friday! mind i am aware this is down to the goverment mainly.on a personal basis i have never had to wait any longer than 2 wks for any procedure i have needed.i would like to take this oppertunity to thank all the nursing staff on ward 31/33 you have been fantastic and a big thankyou to you all! xx

What could be improved

mainly the staffing issue has to be priority and this is for the staff as much as the patients. on several occ i have seen nursing staff starting there shift at 6am not leaving the ward till gone 10pm and have been back on duty for 6am the following morning. how can anyone expect someone to be on top form under these working conditions accidents r bound to happen. secondly i would like to see visitors be made too use the disinfectant hand gell before they enter the ward. although it is available at nearly every entrance to every ward i have noticed that most visitors just dont bother. 3rdly i feel that the general apperances of the wards could do with modernisation ie decorating, new bedding etc
