"I have felt totally reassured that I am in good hands "

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

In April 2013 I attended an appointment with Mr Thrush to get my results of a routine mammogram check (due to my age). I had been referred to Bromsgrove after the mobile screening appointment, where they had done further thorough tests and also did a tissue biopsy of a lump in my left breast. I was escorted into Mr Thrush's office, by Helen, the breast screen nurse, whereupon I was informed that the lump was cancerous. Both Mr Thrush and Helen handled this situation extremely well. Mr Thrush went through everything step by step and wrote it down on a piece of paper, which I found extremely useful during the following days. It is right what they say, you can't take everything in at the time and I was grateful to have this information to refer back to. Helen took me into a different office and provided me with a very useful information pack and went through things in much more detail with me.

Ever since that appointment I have felt totally reassured that I am in good hands and that all the medical team has my best interests at heart. They have been supportive, helpful and extremely professional, whilst also being sympathetic and caring. I feel that I have been wrapped in a warm comforting protective blanket by everyone who has been part of my surgery and treatment plan.

Never once have I doubted that I am in safe hands and when I have had some negative thoughts I have been totally reassured, which has enabled me to stay focused and positive during my treatment.

They are all a wonderful team of medical experts and I feel extremely fortunate to be able to treated at Worcester Royal Hospital
