About: Southend Hospital

Anything else?

I dislocated my knee a year ago & the female paramedic that came out to me was brilliant. She really put me at ease & tried her very best in making sureI was as comfortable & pain free as much as possible as I had to wait 2 hours for ambulance to transport me to to hospital. My care in A&E was excellent and the same with my stay on Amu. My only grievance with my aftercare was that I saw several different doctors before I was finally referred to a consultant. He explained that I needed an operation to stabilise the kneecap and unlike some consultants he spoke to me and not at me. ( in fact I had he made me laugh). I felt very comfortable having him as my consultant. The day of the operation I was on shop land ward where every member of staff were brilliant. The consultant explained the op very clearly & still made me laugh. After the surgery the nursing staff were amazing every time I buzzed for pain relief a nurse was there in an instant & my tablets given. I have to thank not just the staff on shopland or the consultant, but all the physiotherapists & the staff in the plaster room. So thank you Southend hospital.
