What I liked

The A&E staff in the childrens ward treated my 3 year old son with so much care, humour and respect. They explained every aspect of treatment clearly beforehand. The waiting area was well equipped for keep my daughter entertained during the wait. The theatre staff were equally informative and put us at ease. The nursing care on ward 11 was brilliant, making us very comfortable for overnight stay and gave my son a new toy to help him settle in. Hourly monitoring throughout the night; the doctors were prompt and friendly. For the 5 weekly apts at the fracture clinic, we experienced the same level of excellent patient service and respect from booking in, xray, plaster dept and consultants.

What could be improved

There appeared to be a shortage of porters which increased waiting time but staff dealt well with it.

Fracture clinic appointments prior to 9:30am are sometimes delayed as doctor can be held up doing rounds on wards. Again indicating shortage of back up doctor or assistant.
