"Children's A&E"

About: Worthing Hospital

Anything else?

Really terrible experience and I am left with no faith in the doctors or nursing staff in this dept... Quality of care? Non existent care...nicest person all day? Lady on reception desk! I am a teacher and if I gave the equivalent service in my job I'd have to leave my job. My 3 year old daughter coughed up blood which resulted in our trip to A&E. We waited 1 1/2 hours to see triage nurse who was barely interested in what I had to say. 3 hours later we were seen by a doctor who was not very concerned, and had little time to think about putting me at rest about the situation. He misunderstood what I was saying and only when I pushed the point that the blood was bright red did he take me seriously. He left the room to make a phone call, in the mean time I was asked to leave the room because someone with greater need needed it...not something you want to hear. I was shuffled back out to the waiting room very unnerved about what was happening and what I was supposed to do, when I asked I was made to feel like I was fussing. Another hour and a half later we had to go babka into triage with an even ruder nurse who was getting cross with my daughter for fidgeting whilst trying to weigh her, completely not taking in the fact that she had been coupled up in the waiting room for approx 5 hours! We were then directed to childrens ward, left to wait there for a further half an hour. The overall outcome? Two doctors, two conflicting outcomes, no actual help and a complete waste of a day. Would I recommend? No! Next time I will definitely go to Brighton.
