What I liked

The nursing staff were mostly very professional and did their job well, sometimes they seemed too busy and seemed to have too much to do, so things were being left, but overall they provided an excellent service. The anaesthetists all had a great sense of humour, which put patients at ease during what can be a very scary time, particularly for children. Parents are treated very well overall, and are treated like they are working hard for their child, even in the cases they weren't!The surgeon did the procedure, and it seems like it has worked. All the medical staff did a very good job, as did most others, and each did what they did very well, pain specialists, teachers, physiotherapists, everyone,

What could be improved

I think that too much is done by student nurses, they are in many cases inexperienced and have made (non-serious) mistakes. The anaesthetist who came to meet me, as the patient and explain what would happen was not the one who anaesthetised me, he came in, then let someone else do it.The surgeon didn't see patients as people, but as a symptom in a bed, he performed what no other surgeon in his position would have and was rude and arrogant to other healthcare professionals, and they all had a very negative image of him.Everyone just didn't communicate with each other very well, a nurse would get me to do breathing exercises, and spend time and effort explaining it, unaware that the physio had said not to use those, but others, the one team would prescribe medications that the surgeon had stopped.
