Anything else?
I had an accident at the end of September that resulted in me breaking my femur. I contacted the ambulance service who were with me in less than 15 minutes. They treated me really well and supported me with pain relief while I was transported to Preston Royal hospital. I cannot praise the hospital enough. The whole experience has been very positive for me. I was well cared for in the A&E area, given full information about the break, and the possible operation I would need and additional pain relief while I was waiting to be taken to a ward. The trauma unit was excellent. I saw both doctors, consultants and anaesthetists during the night who explained in detail to me what would be done the next day, I was given choices and advice, I was treated with respect and involved In the whole process. The operation itself went very well, everyone involved was kind and extremely informative. After only 36 hrs I was transferred to the Bleasdale unit and the care of nurses here really helped me to get ready to come home. At all times in the hospital I have been treated extremely well, but more important to me I only ever observed staff treating everyone on all wards in exactly the same way. Often under very difficult circumstances. All of the staff I saw in the week I was with you worked very hard to meet the needs of the patients in their care. This was true of care staff, cleaners, catering staff as well as nurses, doctors, consultants. Since coming home the hospital has contacted me to arrange my next appointments and again I was given choices about when they would take place. I have always been a big supporter of the NHS, this experience has reinforced my belief in the service and just how much we should value what it offers to us. I am looking forward to continuing with staff to get back to full fitness and have every confidence that this will be as positive as the last few weeks have been. A big thank you to everyone involved
