"Poor Communication with relatives"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

Anything else?

My elderly mother in law (91) was taken to hospital via ambulance last Friday. She had fractured her hip and a repair operation was undertaken and she was admitted to Gunning Ward after far too many hours in recovery. We live over 40 miles from St George's and since the operation it has been almost impossible to communicate with the medical doctors caring for her. We have POA over her health and welfare. Despite leaving numerous messages with nursing staff doctors have fail to return our calls. 5 Days after the operation she has not been out of bed (as far as we know) she is refusing to eat and is drowsy and confused (which is a marked contrast to how she was before going into hospital). Family members have visited and are seriously concerned. Eventually managed to speak to a physician's assistant yesterday - but have left messages today and still no response from any doctors.
