Anything else?
I gave birth to my son in the Consultant-led unit of the Jubilee maternity unit at the start of October. Having seen some of the comments made about the maternity unit on various websites, I was apprehensive as to whether I would receive adequate care during the birth; many of the reviews I had read referenced the fact that the unit was so busy which resulted in a lack of adequate care and attention. I needn't have worried - the care and attention I received from my midwife was amazing! The birth was quite traumatic and was essentially a list of everything I didn't want the birth to be, however due to the care of my midwife and the team that delivered my son, it was still an amazingly positive experience. I was never left alone and felt so well supported by the team that I had confidence in the decisions we made, even though they were not on my birth plan. Sadly, I have had to revisit Triage each week following my son's birth however the aftercare I receive there is also fantastic. I am being well monitored and really feel that my recovery is important to the team dealing with me. It's sad that it tends to be the negative experiences that are shared, so I felt it was important to share my experiences as it was completely at odds with the majority of views I had read.
