"MRI care"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

On 22/10/13 I got a wake up phone call asking me to attend the tia clinic at 9 am. Part of the assessment was an MRI, I am claustrophobic. Having been able to force myself theough one previously I shocked myself by being unable to go into it this time. I suspect the rush and my consequent lack of mental preparation was a factor. The radiologist did not disguise her irritation. The nurse however was brilliant, a credit to her profession. I was able to get out into fresh air, calm myself down then talk myself back into the department where she instantly recognised what I was doing ( counting distraction) got me straight in, and held my literally shaking hand throughout. She is my hero. Top marks LRI.

Dear Reviewer

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments.

Our staff are very much used to seeing patients with claustrophobia, so we are sorry that one didn't respond appropriately, however it's great that you overcame this with a little help form another member of staff.

Thank you again,
