"Uncaring and callous"

Anything else?

My mother has difficulty breathing. She came in through A&E and spent the night waiting for a bed. When she told the nurse manhandling her that she couldn't breathe, the nurse said 'just open your mouth - that's all there is to it' The same nurse shared her witty joke with a colleague afterwards, laughing at my mums expense. My mum is very ill, but she discharged herself and came home the same day rather than be ignored and abused in this awful hospital. Disgraceful. Where is the compassion?

Thank you for your comment about your mother's experience at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. I am very sorry to hear that you were not happy with your mother's experience in our A&E department. I passed your message to our senior nursing staff in A&E and this is what they said: this behaviour from any nursing staff within the A&E is completely unacceptable. We would very much appreciate it if you would contact the department and we would be more than happy to investigate this to deal with any such behaviour. You can contact the department directly, or go through our PALS service on 020 8836 4592 Kind regards Janette Haworth Head of Patient Experience
