What I liked

All of the hospital staff that I came into contact with, from the consultant downwards, were exceptional. I was admitted unexpectedly and had an unscheduled 24 hour stay following some surgery.

The Medical team were thorough and friendly but also made certain that I was fully aware of what would be involved during and after surgery.

All staff involved on Ward 6 made me welcome, comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. They kept a non-intrusive eye on me and were clearly very efficient.

Drinks and meals were excellent.

All in all it was a worry-free experience.

What could be improved

Perhaps a few more seats in the waiting areas of A&E. It was a busy time and most people were accompanied by relatives, which dramatically cut down the number of seats available.

It is always very encouraging for the Trust and the staff who work with our patients to receive such positive feedback from a patient.

As part of our commitment to customer service we aim to provide our patients with first class care whilst respecting their need for privacy and dignity. As a Trust we have been focusing recently on ensuring that the right information is given to the patient, in a way that they can understand, in order to reduce any worries or fears the patient may have.

With regard to the seating arrangements in A&E, we are aware that due to limitations on space at the hospital, the waiting areas are smaller than we would like. However, during this year the Trust is looking at how waiting areas can be improved, and how to make the best use of the space available. New chairs have now been purchased for the waiting room donated by the League of Friends. We are planning to decorate the waiting room in the very near future.
