"Dental department are not very organised"

About: Montagu Hospital

Anything else?

My daughter was referred to the maxi low dept here by the dentist for a lump what had grown more or less overnight on her jaw line , was told we had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment and we did six weeks had passed no appointment was told to go And E by one of the SHO'S who my dentist had contacted again to see what had happened with the appointment . Took her to my local And E at Doncaster Royal and was told it was a lymph gland he gave her a bottle of ibuprofen. Still waiting for this appointment from Maxilow at Mexbrough still nothing so i then had to take her to my GP who had to make the referral because apparently my dentist never even though i was stood in the same room while he called the SHo. My daughter still has this lump on her face no one knows what it is i have to go ENT's at Doncaster next week to see if they can tell me because mexbrough are not Sure if its a dental problem. What has annoyed me is the fact i know fine well this could have been resolved sooner had they not lost the referral from my dentist and instead blame him for not making one my daughters face is now red and sore where that lump appears to have gone septic not happy, !!!

We are very sorry to hear that your daughter has not been treated in an efficient manner, and we assure you that this is not our normal practice at any of our hospitals. We sincerely apologise for the pain your daughter has been experiencing, and also the frustration of having to wait due to the issues with the initial referral. We are very keen to investigate this fully and would like to invite you to speak to the Admin and Performance Manager for Head & Neck services, Jane Barter, so we can find out why this happened and resolve this matter quickly for you both. Jane's contact details are: T: 01302 366666 ext 3323 or E: jane.barter@dbh.nhs.uk.
