"A&E needs a great deal of work"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

We've been in and out A&E 4 times over the last 2 years, with what presented (by the paramedics) as possible heart attacks, only to be told on all occasions that my other half was merely suffering from panic attacks and stress. Turns out, after we went private, that he has severe hypertension and acid reflux, neither of which were mentioned at any visit despite blood pressure measurements being taken on all visits. Since diagnosis, Medway have confirmed the blood pressure readings, which clearly show a steady increase but no action was taken by them. My advice if you're going in? Make sure when your Blood Pressure is taken you ask for the results and what those results mean - they were ignored in our case and we have been told by other doctors that my other half is lucky to be alive. His blood pressure was so high that he was a walking candidate for heart attack or stroke. I've contacted Medway to complain, and honestly feel like we've been brushed off. I'd advice going elsewhere if you can, I don't think I'd be happy being taken there again for anything.
