"Outrageous"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

Anything else?

Recently I have visited the ward 14 with my newborn in order to have a feeding tube fitted in. It took them 2 hours to find the correct syringe that would have fitted the tube I provided. Once the time had come to fit the tube down the nose of my child the attempt made by the nurse was not successful on number of occasions - as we found out later it was a student nurse, however it was never made clear to us. To sum up if this was a horrid experience and if was life threatening I am afraid we would have lost our baby. So scared to live in Shropshire in case we need to deal with emergencies again.

I am really sorry to hear about this and would encourage you to contact us so that we can look into this further and make sure that improvements are made. Our children's teams generally receive very good feedback but clearly you did have a good experience. Unfortunately the NHS Choices website does not share your contact details with us so I would encourage you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). The PALS office is located near the main entrance at the Princess Royal Hospital. It is normally open Mon-Thu 9am-5pm and Fri 9am-4.30pm. You can also contact them by telephone on 01952 282888, and there is an answerphone to take messages outside opening hours. Please note that PALS staff may be busy with other patients or relatives when you call, so please accept our apologies if they are not available immediately to take your call. More information about PALS is available from our website at http://www.sath.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/pals Please do get in touch so that we can learn from this and improve.
