"A hospital where you cannot park is a cruel hoax"

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

Anything else?

I see from a flyer that one of the hospital's aims and objectives for this year is to attract more patients. This is a cruel hoax as new patients will not be able to park. Able-bodied ones can no doubt park at Tesco's, or use the train or bus, but what of the very frail and ill? It does not matter how up to date the treatment may be or how caring the staff, if patients cannot park they cannot access the facilities the hospital may offer. Of course, if the staff cannot park either the treatment will not be of the best anyway.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that you had a difficult time finding a parking space when you visited the Trust. Earlier this year we created additional visitor parking spaces and we have also amended our visiting hours to address the peak of traffic we had been seeing at around 2pm. Both of these actions have achieved a positive result on the availability of spaces available. We have extensive plans to create additional parking facilities for patients, visitors and staff, but all of these require planning permission. Work is underway with the Council, the Highways Agency and the University of Surrey to look at how we can create more space for parking for the hospital. Kind regards, Royal Surrey County Hospital
