My grandad was taking to the general nearly 2 weeks ago. In fairness the doctor- when he is seen - is very informative and has a great bedside manner. The rest of the staff and the day to day cleanliness and care is disgraceful. Having to ask 9 times in a day for a dri pt o be replaced which was feeding him as had to wait almost 24 hours with no food or drink before surgery. No freshwater it is filled up first thing in the morning and left there all day so it is nice and warm, no wonder he is dehydrated! After buzzer have been pressed and 2 different nurses asked for fresh water I went and got it myself to be very rudely told it is not my place and I am not to interfere. As he is unable to get to the bathroom to shower himself, out of pure lack of energy and now swollen legs- he has yet to be offered a bed bath, no shower for 5 days and not one nurse has even thought to offer a bed bath or offer to assist him to the bathroom, even after he has had accident in his bed they simply offer 'nappies' how disgraceful. He has now finally been diagnosed with blood cancer, and is being referred back to the royal infirmary for treatment however this is now on hold as he is 'too weak' or in 'fit state' according to the doctor mostly because he has not been looked after properly by the staff at the general. They have not been consistent, they have not been thorough and they most certainly haven't offered any level of client care. Simply things such and food and water and bathing these are he absolute basics and I strongly advise anyone with friends or relatives in there tone persistent with asking for things and demanding what they need otherwise nothing will be done. Absolutely disgusting.
"Disgusting, unprofessional and awful patient care"
