Anything else?
In the recent past I have had occasion to make a serious complaint to another hospital trust about the lack of care for my mother, who is now 86. Therefore, I am delighted to be able to praise the treatment she received yesterday in A&E after a serious fall. Every single member of staff, from the ambulance crew to the nurses and the doctors, treated my mother with dignity, courtesy and gentleness. We remained in A&E for nearly five hours, but left feeling that every aspect of her care had been taken care of. It is impossible to spend time in A&E without overhearing the interactions of staff with other emergency patients. In every case, I would praise the staff for their patience and kindness, particularly with elderly, hard-of-hearing patients. I do hope that we didn't just "strike it lucky" yesterday - and I can imagine that very busy times will put great pressure on the staff - but our experience yesterday should be held up as a shining example to the current government of why our precious NHS must not be tampered with. Thanks to everyone on duty on Saturday afternoon, 5th October.
