"My visit to A&E."

About: Basildon University Hospital

Anything else?

I was involved in an RTA a week ago,I was knocked off of my bicycle on my way to work. I was assessed at the scene by a paramedic but later that day had need to visit Basildon hospital A&E for further treatment. On arrival I was assessed by a triage nurse within five minutes,I was then seen by an A&E doctor within thirty minutes, the examination I received was extremely thorough & carried out with dignaty & respect to my condition. I was then sent to the x-ray department where again I was seen within thirty minutes. I was then returned to the A&E department where I was told of the outcome & full extent of my injuries. Everything was explained to me very thoroughly. I was then sent to the A&E main reception to book in for a further appointment at the fracture clinic. It was explained to me that the fracture clinic wild contact me to arrange this appointment. I was contacted within 48 hours & an appointment was made for me to attend the fracture clinic for a further check up. I would like to commend all the staff at Basildon hospital for the care & treatment I received on both of these visits. I can only describe the statff as completely professional, attentive to detail & extremely competent in their respective roles. I would further like to add that all the staff that dealt with me, from the porters, receptionists, nurses, doctors & radiologists were kind, funny, dutiful & helpful to me for the duration of my visit. It is obvious to me that the team you have assembled & the ethics that they practice are a fantastic endictment of the hard work you all do at Basildon hospital & in the NHS in general. In a society where people are very quick to jump on & knock the NHS for its performance I can only say that in my recent experience these naysayers need to step back & see the NHS & all who work within it for what they are, a national institution that should be supported & loved. I would like to finish by extending my deepest thanks & gratitude to all those staff at Basildon hospital for making what potentially was a very distressing time for me very much easier to cope with.
