I was diagnosed with CABG at your hospital after going through your "exercise clinic" and angiogram. i eventually had my triple heart by pass at st antonys hospital through BUPA . i then came back and had a phase 3 cardiac rehabilitation programme ( CRP). From the moment i had contact with St. Peter's hospital to my last day of the re hab programme your staff have been fantastic. I cannot praise all your staff at the rahab programme enough. Infact i feel so humble that they found the time, patience, encouragement, sense of humour to " look after me". I was never an active person and after my triple heart by pass i was at a very low point of my life. My consultant and all parties involved "could do no more" - it was not up to me to be sensible and recover. This is easier said then done. i felt "abandoned" and i do not blame my family and friends (and the consultant etc...) as only i knew what i have been through both mentally and physically ( i am only 52 years old !). When i was told about the CRP i was initially reluctant to attend. i have never kept my gym programmes etc... But i am so glad that i decided to attend. from the first inital talk to my last class all the staff (and i mean all) at CRP have just been so fantastic. They did not treat me like a patience, they motivated me, they knew my limit and encouraged me to reach and slowly go beyond my limit - they were fun, they were patience, they were caring if it got too hot, they did all this for all of us. They are a credit not just to your hospital, but to society in general. My motivation is sky high, i owe it to these staff who treated me so well to carry on with what they started. I promise you that i will do it - otherwise i will let your staff down after all their efforts to look after me. i have lost weight , i am much more active, i am full of confidence to acive my limits (i will not get carried away - but be sensible) physically and mentally i feel great and i owe this all to your staff at CRP. Please tell them what they are doing is not "just their job" - but certainly in my case a life style changing experince. Thank you and I will miss CRP.
