"How can you lose my mother's details"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Anything else?

My mother had a plaster cast put on her arm at Pontefract Hospital. She then had to return to Pinderfields Hospital two weeks ago to have the cast taken off. Unfortunatley, because of the lack of care at Dewsbury District Hospital, she had to have another cast put on which she was told would be on for two weeks. She was also told her transport had been booked for the appointment to have the cast removed. As my mother has not received any letter or phone call with the date of the appointment and as this coming Monday will be two weeks since she had the second cast on she is now concerned as she doesn't know what is going on. My sister rang Pinderfields Hospital on Monday and was on hold for over an hour. When she finally got through to someone she promised to ring my sister back. She never rang back. My mum spent two hours on hold the following day, only to be promised, again, she would get a call back., this was after they told her they had no records on their computer of my mother! I rang on Wednesday and spoke to a different person who, again, promised to either ring me or my mother. Not surprisingly she did not ring. Now my mother does not know what is happening regarding her cast and she has run up a large telephone bill for trying to find out what is going on and being put on hold for hours on a premium rate number. I intend to put an official claim and am going to take it back to Dewsbury Hospital when the error first started when my mother was sent home with a broken arm and they said it was not broken. Is it really so hard for somebody to ring an elderly, frail lady, who has a cast on her hand that she uses and her left hand is badly arthritic, she can't get a jumper or cardigan on over the cast and she is cold and struggling to do anything, so why can't Pinderfields Hospital show some compassion and let her know when she is to go and have the cast off. When did nursing become the uncaring profession?
