"food in the eri"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France

(as the patient),

I was bitterly disappointed in the food that was offered to me and other patients in the ward that I was in.

I was in for two weeks and lived out of the canteen. The food on offer in the ward was not healthy and consisted of pre-frozen offerings. You expect patients to recover in quick time but surely not on the burnt offerings that it was expected of us to eat.

Even the staff said it was atrocious.

Dear fubar10,

I am sorry that your experience of the food in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh was a negative one. We have very strict controls in place over what food is served and its nutritional value for patients.

You may be aware that responsibility for food at the RIE sits with our PFI Partner Consort and not NHS Lothian and I have passed your comments onto them for consideration.

If you would like a fuller response from Consort on this matter, please e-mail me on stuart.wilson3@nhs.net

Best regards.
