"Complaint of hospital care at Coventry Hospital,..."

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

Anything else?

My partner was admitted into the hospital following an alcoholic seizure on the 29th of September 13. My partner has suffered from alcoholism for many years & in October last year he suffered two seizures. One in friends back garden & one while in hospital. The care for my partner last year i would describe as excellent. He spent a week in ward 25 & ward 50 and the staff were very understanding of my partners condition & the services & advice they gave to me & my partners family was also excellent. After being discharged from hospital in October last year my partner has struggled & has had ups & downs to beat his addiction to alcohol. Over the past week my partner has struggled with his addiction & yesterday he suffered another repeat of a seizure due to coming off alcohol too quickly with out the right & appropriate medication. Being admitted to your hospital yesterday by ambulance with injures to my partners face, eyes, hands & confusion from a seizure i think my partner was treated poorly. My partner was discharged from hospital this afternoon (30/09/13) he wasn't given the right care, medication & help that he needed. He spent a week in hospital during his last stay, the staff put my partner on a detox program, gave him the right medication when he was discharged & offered him counselling etc. Due to being discharged from hospital this time so early i was worried he may suffer another seizure that isn't a pretty to see. So after discussing with family etc i took my partner to a family G.P & after discussing my concerns with the doctor, he decided to re admit my partner back to hospital (30th Sep). My partner shouldn't of been discharged from hospital in the first place because if he wasn't we wouldn't be in the situation waiting in A&E to get seen. My partner could have a seizure at anytime & sitting in A&E for 6hours is not doing any favours for patience & health. Having another seizure can be dangerous for my partner & being basically dumped in A&E for 6hours is a disgrace. I'm not happy with the service & care. My thoughts are the NHS should have better standards of care for patients, more beds, more staff & less waiting around to get seen as the waiting hours in A&E are a joke. I understand fully the staff are doing there jobs & are very busy looking after other sick patients but the NHS are slipping & I'm probably not the only person complaining about the care at this hospital today. I'm considering using a private hospital for myself & family after the experience we've had today & yesterday. Not best pleased!!
