I have waited over a month since my treatment ended to be sure that the review I send is balanced and realistic. After months of pain, discomfort and social anxiety with ill fitting dentures, my dentist referred me to the Consultant at the Dental Hospital. I was dealt with by his registrar. I did not hold out much hope of my dentures being improved on as I had had them altered about six times by my dentist and was led to believe that I would not be able to get better. I was treated by the department and all members of staff from receptionists to the specialists with such care and compassion. This was not the NHS I was reading about in the national papers. I was meant to feel valued and my opinion was requested at all stages of my treatment. After several weeks of appointments and try ins the day came when I was presented with my new dentures, they fitted were comfortable and I was able to eat with them the same day. I cannot begin to tell you how my life has changed, I do not think that those without dentures can appreciate how life limiting ill fitting dentures can be. I can go out for the day without worrying about how long I can keep the dentures in. I have been able to start on a diet because I can now eat salad, apples nuts etc which I have been unable to chew for a long long time. I smile all the time and do not worry that my teeth may drop. I don't rush home so I can take them out. I wish to say a huge thank you to all who were involved with my treatment, you made me feel special and you have given me my life back. To the executives of the hospital I hope you are aware of how special and compassionate your staff are and that they are able to read this review.
